About
Monique James-Duncan is a wife, mother, author, and wanderlust. She resides in Brooklyn, NY, with her family. Mommy Time is her first book, published on March 28th, 2023, and has received an SLJ-starred review. She holds a BA in Business Management from Golden Gate University. Scouring through library shelves, she realized an urgent need for her two rambunctious children always to know they are "seen." Thus she is passionate about writing literature with representation and mirrors.
Monique was born in Britain, and at the age of two, her parents moved to the Commonwealth of Dominica, a tiny Caribbean Island where they speak English and French Creole. She began traveling and vacationing with her parents and two siblings early on and enjoyed spending precious time on her maternal grandparent's farm in Barbados. In addition, she's lived in Toronto, New York, Atlanta, and San Francisco and found something to love dearly in every city.
Her love of adventure took her on a wild journey backpacking across Asia, from Thailand to India—also weeks of trekking through South America and exploring Europe. So while she makes the cosmopolitan mecca of New York her home, she spends most summers in Barbados and Dominica with her children.
